, specifically with issue of abortion rights, union rights and including mr. romney's 47% remarks which are absolutely dominated the campaign for the last week or more. mr. romney's record as has mass governor was also not discussed except on mr. romney's own terms when he brought it up himself. there was honestly, a lot left on the cutting room floor by this format and by the moderator who moderated with more than a light touch. mr. romney by most estimates needed to come out with a strong night tonight giving how he was fairing into the polls heading into the night and he did have a strong night. >> under the president's policies, middle income americans are buried. they've been crushed. middle-income americans have seen their income come down by $4,300. it's the economy tax. it's been crushing. at the same time, gas prices doubled under the president. electric rates are up. food prices are up. health care costs have gone up by $2,500 a family. middle-income families are being crushed so the question is how to get them going again. >> president obama for his part, kept his focus at le

on the obama record. certainly that rhetoric from mr. romney fits with that in recent weeks they said really a choice. dependency society based on the obama agenda of bigger government and bigger government intrusion into the lives of individual entrepreneural spirit of the american people versus romney view is less government, less regulation, less intrusion and more personal responsibility and opportunities of prosperity versus stagnation. there is a point on which you could expect the obama campaign and the president to pick at mr. romney tomorrow if it doesn't come up in a question at all. now the infamous rashes about the 47% who don't pay income taxes in the u.s. and that surreptitiously obtained video from several weeks back at a florida fund-raiser. the 47% is sure to come up. when he arrived last night at denver mr. romney did an interview with local affiliate, local fox station as a matter of fact and they asked him about it. here is how mr. romney intends to sort of deal with that issue of the 47%. >> they want to know is, will he get jobs for the american people and get rising in

in washington. let me start with mr. romney's divorce. why did he pick paul ryan for his running mate? certainly not for better or worse. mitt spends his days and nights acting as if he's out there all alone, that he never hooked up with ryan in the first place. i get it. romney doesn't want to get dragged down by his political mate's push for getting rid of medicare. he acts like ryan has no hold on him, but it's not the way it works. romney has slowly gotten the word that the voter out there thought the two had things worked out, that romney and ryan were in this thing together. well, they're not. romney is dying. he can't stand being tied to ryan, and all that budget cutting baggage of his. for his part, ryan is feeling the taint of having a running mate who is unwilling to stand with him, unwilling to be his kind of politician. a conviction politician. so trouble in paradise. mitt's dying to be single again, so is ryan. we all know that politics makes strange bedfellows but the word is out this pair, romney and ryan, are sleeping in separate rooms. i'm joined by msnbc political analyst howar
